Meet Class of 2012 senior Caleb. He is graduating from Eustace High School this year. He has a true talent for music and art so I encouraged him to incorporate these talents into his photo shoot. His portrait session took place in our photography studio and at Don’s Bug Barn in Athens Texas.

A Special Valentine’s Day Post – Celebrating Love at any Age!

Most of my blog posts are centered around one photo session or wedding and while this one has been inspired by one couple in particular (I will tell you more about them shortly) I am speaking to all of the couples I have the pleasure of photographing every year. As a wedding photographer I work with about 25 couples each year who are about to tie the knot. In general the majority of these couples getting married are in their twenties or thirties, deeply in love and just getting their lives started. I enjoy working with each of them. Getting to know them as a couple, learning what motivates and moves them and incorporating that into how I tell the story of their wedding day is truly what makes my job as a wedding photographer worth while.

What I am trying to say is that the experience and connection are important. Weddings are not an easy thing to photograph. There are many, many things to consider over the course of the day not to mention the hours upon hours of editing and album designing that goes on behind the scenes. If I didn’t thrive on the challenges and enjoy working with people I would have given up shooting them years ago but I am drawn to documenting these love stories which brings me to Cindy and Jim.

I recently photographed the wedding of Jim and Cindy. They are not my typical wedding client. The beautiful bride, Cindy, is 73. When we first met she proudly boasted that she is older than Jim and I teased her that she was robbing the cradle. These two are the inspiration for this post. They are in their golden years. A time when some may have already lost a spouse and given up on love but these two found it again and it is absolutely apparent when they look at each other.

If you have lost your faith in love and relationships you need to come work with me for a while. You will see that relationships are complicated and sometimes trying but ultimately love, friendship and family is most the meaningful part of our lives. As a photographer I am honored that so many people trust me to document these meaningful moments! So here’s to love, the romantic kind and the love shared between family and friends. Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!

Jena & Emilio Wedding – East Texas Arboretum, Athens Texas

Jena & Emilio was our second wedding of 2012. Their’s was a small intimate wedding held at the East Texas Arboretum in Athens Texas. I enjoyed working with these guys. I have know Emilio since he was about 9 years old and worked with him and his family before. The familiarity of knowing Emilio for so long bred some great images! Congratulations guys! You are absolutely adorable!

Amber and Eric are a super nice couple currently living in Houston but getting married right here in East Texas at the beautiful Victorian House located in Kaufman, Texas. Their recent engagement session was done partially in our portrait studio and partially outside. They are a lighthearted funny couple who enjoys laughing. Just my kind of people! Gaby & Kevin Engagement Photos – Athens, Texas

Gaby and Kevin’s engagement session in Athens, Texas was the first official engagement session of 2012. I thoroughly enjoyed traipsing around the downtown Athens, Tx. square with Kevin and Gaby looking for fun places to photograph them. I love doing engagement portraits for many reasons but the best one is that it gives me an opportunity to get to know you such much better as a couple. Kevin and Gaby are a cute, fun loving couple with lighthearted attitudes. I enjoyed creating these images for you guys and look forward to your wedding!

Allison & Jake’s Wedding – Longview, Texas

Allison & Jake chose The Reserve in Longview, TX for their special day. The Reserve has a rustic, charming atmosphere and Allison & Jake’s Wedding was the perfect fit. Family and friends gathered for the outdoor ceremony timed with the setting sun. The resulting images were absolutely breath taking. Following the ceremony was the reception, aka the party, held in the beautiful hall. The decorations were superb and the complimenting colors made the captured images extra special. Thank you Allison & Jake for allowing us to be a part of your special day!

Meghan & Josh have a great sense of style and undeniable chemistry. They love all things vintage and incorporated various vintage items into their Engagement Session. The resulting potraits are a great representation of this couple. They were both so easy and comfortable to work with. As you can see, love was in the air!
