Allison & Jake chose The Reserve in Longview, TX for their special day. The Reserve has a rustic, charming atmosphere and Allison & Jake’s Wedding was the perfect fit. Family and friends gathered for the outdoor ceremony timed with the setting sun. The resulting images were absolutely breath taking. Following the ceremony was the reception, aka the party, held in the beautiful hall. The decorations were superb and the complimenting colors made the captured images extra special. Thank you Allison & Jake for allowing us to be a part of your special day!

Dana & Thor’s special day was held at The Filter Building at White Rock Lake in Dallas Texas.  It was a beautiful setting for this wedding ceremony and reception.  The bride and groom were easy to work with and their wedding party was game for a few fun photos.  When I suggested the groomsmen do something silly they had fun ‘beating’ the groom.  This was  beautiful, fun, lighthearted  event and these images are a small sample of some of my favorites.

The Parks family is always a pleasure to photograph and with the addition of newborn Sam, it was all the more fun.  Little Sam was all smiles and bright eyes coming in the door, but after a nice little meal and a burp sleep quickly became the theme of the shoot.  We caught a few images with his eyes open and his little face all round and smiling but then his sleepy eyes gave in and the rest of the shoot was more like posing a precious doll.  And a precious doll he was! Next it was time for the Mom & Sam portion and we were fortunate enough to have a few smiles and those bright eyes again.  Soon after, the rest of the family joined in. Dad and Sam’s big sister Hannah added quite the fun to the shoot, having a great father/daughter banter going on.  The studio was filled with fun and laughs and Sam even joined in with more smiles and those bright eyes.  What a great family to work with.  Enjoy the images of The Parks Family!

Skylar chose a  formal dress from a past event as one of her outfits. Skylar told us that when she bought it she vowed she would wear it for her Senior photo shoot to get more out of it. As you can see from the resulting images, it was a good choice. She looked like a model, with the fan blowing and the netting flying. Good job Skylar. Following the ‘in-studio’ portion, Skylar had asked for a tire swing  to have photos taken on. Being the ever accommodating photo studio, we hung one just for the occasion. Her choice of outfits for the outdoors were perfect, as you can see. The last location was for Mom, and a family effort it was. She wanted the ever popular Blue Bonnet photo, with bubbles & barefoot. Dad ran to buy some bubbles, we carefully picked our way through the aromatic blossoms and captured some beautiful images. It was a great shoot!

I can talk all day long about lighting, color calibration,  f-stops,  iso  and post production techniques but any good photographer will have a strong grasp of the technical stuff and an artful eye to make it all come together.  So what’s left…the connection between photographer and subject.  I want to know your motivation behind wanting to do the session if the first place. If you have ideas for your photo shoot I want to hear them. I want to lend advice when you need it. I want to take my time photographing you and even more time putting together your final images and creating custom products that show them off.  I want you to trust that I will do all of this to the very best of my ability and create something that is uniquely you.

Case in point – The Lilly family:

I first photographed them while they were pregnant with their first child Cade. Tiffany knew that I photographed weddings but did not know much about my portrait work. She took a leap of faith and commissioned me to photograph a maternity session for her.  I suggested that Tim, her husband, take part in the session.  I did that first session in their home.  We spent a couple of hours shooting their maternity session and the images were spectacular. As we worked together I could feel them relaxing and getting into the process. By the end of the session they were comfortable enough with me to suggest doing some beautifully intimate shots in their bedroom, bare chested (covering up the naughty parts of course and no you will not see them here on this blog These are images I am sure they do not share with just anyone but cherish none the less and will look back on as the years go by with even more fondness.

From that beginning I have since shot two family portrait sessions and a newborn session for the beautifully photogenic Skyla.  These subsequent sessions have been done in the studio and again in their home. Each time I photograph them I feel more of a connection which of  course has a positive impact of the end result. Tiffany and Tim thank you for trusting me to capture your growing family. I look forward to more sessions down the road and seeing what wonderful image we can create together.
