Meet Class of 2012 senior Caleb. He is graduating from Eustace High School this year. He has a true talent for music and art so I encouraged him to incorporate these talents into his photo shoot. His portrait session took place in our photography studio and at Don’s Bug Barn in Athens Texas.

Jena & Emilio Wedding – East Texas Arboretum, Athens Texas

Jena & Emilio was our second wedding of 2012. Their’s was a small intimate wedding held at the East Texas Arboretum in Athens Texas. I enjoyed working with these guys. I have know Emilio since he was about 9 years old and worked with him and his family before. The familiarity of knowing Emilio for so long bred some great images! Congratulations guys! You are absolutely adorable!

Gaby & Kevin Engagement Photos – Athens, Texas

Gaby and Kevin’s engagement session in Athens, Texas was the first official engagement session of 2012. I thoroughly enjoyed traipsing around the downtown Athens, Tx. square with Kevin and Gaby looking for fun places to photograph them. I love doing engagement portraits for many reasons but the best one is that it gives me an opportunity to get to know you such much better as a couple. Kevin and Gaby are a cute, fun loving couple with lighthearted attitudes. I enjoyed creating these images for you guys and look forward to your wedding!

Valerie And Wade’s Wedding Book Design

I very much enjoyed shooting Valerie and Wade’s wedding recently but struggled designing this album for them. The struggle was only due to the fact that I was trying to stay within the confines of the page capacity of their 40 page wedding book. Try as I might to make this design work inside of 40 pages this wedding album screamed to be 50 pages so I just went with it. Once they saw the design they agreed that it had to be 50 pages. I gave them a good deal on the upgrade in page count and this custom design is current in Italy at our book maker being custom bound and printed.

The images from this wedding are a beautiful testament to the love between these two. Valerie and Wade were super easy to photograph. Valerie’s very large family was well organized and Wade’s clan was a joy to work with as well. The resulting images speak for themselves. Thanks Val & Wade for inviting us along on this beautiful occasion. It was a pleasure to be part of the merriment!

Farrah`s Boudoir Session

I really enjoying shooting boudoir sessions but unfortunately I do not get to share the images from these sessions very often. Understandably, the women who pose for these intimate portraits many times do not want their session posted online. While a boudoir session generally does not include any nudity they are sexy and personal portraits usually created for a lover or partner. I was happy when Farrah said to me “I am so proud of these images feel free to use them in your portfolio or post them to your blog” . I have known Farrah for years. She has worked for me as a photographer for quite a while and is a dear friend. Her photo shoot was shot on a snowy day in Feb. We ,of course, had to take advantage of the rare day of snow in our small East Texas town. Farrah is adventurous and relished the idea of venturing outside in her lingerie to do some photographs in the snow. I have never photographed a boudoir session in the snow so I was certainly game:) Of course, it was cold and we didn’t stay out there for long before moving back into the studio to create some classic and beautiful portraits. Case Study- The Lilly Family – Creating a Connection

When I photograph a wedding, capture portraits for a growing family or document a milestone such as high school senior portraits my ultimate goals is not only to create great photographs for my clients but to make a connection with them. I do my best to take that connection and transform it into trust. For me gaining that trust is an integral part of establishing a rapport that is going to help me create those great photos everyone wants.

I can talk all day long about lighting, color calibration, f-stops, iso and post production techniques but any good photographer will have a strong grasp of the technical stuff and an artful eye to make it all come together. So what’s left…the connection between photographer and subject. I want to know your motivation behind wanting to do the session if the first place. If you have ideas for your photo shoot I want to hear them. I want to lend advice when you need it. I want to take my time photographing you and even more time putting together your final images and creating custom products that show them off. I want you to trust that I will do all of this to the very best of my ability and create something that is uniquely you.

Case in point – The Lilly family:

I first photographed them while they were pregnant with their first child Cade. Tiffany knew that I photographed weddings but did not know much about my portrait work. She took a leap of faith and commissioned me to photograph a maternity session for her. I suggested that Tim, her husband, take part in the session. I did that first session in their home. We spent a couple of hours shooting their maternity session and the images were spectacular. As we worked together I could feel them relaxing and getting into the process. By the end of the session they were comfortable enough with me to suggest doing some beautifully intimate shots in their bedroom, bare chested (covering up the naughty parts of course and no you will not see them here on this blog These are images I am sure they do not share with just anyone but cherish none the less and will look back on as the years go by with even more fondness.

From that beginning I have since shot two family portrait sessions and a newborn session for the beautifully photogenic Skyla. These subsequent sessions have been done in the studio and again in their home. Each time I photograph them I feel more of a connection which of course has a positive impact of the end result. Tiffany and Tim thank you for trusting me to capture your growing family. I look forward to more sessions down the road and seeing what wonderful image we can create together.
